When older people share their time, life experience and knowledge with children and young people, both generations benefit. The ‘Intergenerational Encounters’ project brings older people together with schools and day-care centres, creating opportunities that foster mutual understanding and positive relationships.
For this voluntary work to succeed and have a lasting impact, professional organisation and support are essential. This is exactly where your donation makes a difference. Pro Senectute of the Two Basels conducts thorough preliminary discussions, matches suitable volunteers with schools and day centres, and supports them as they get started. We remain a point of contact afterwards too: we provide support with any questions or difficulties, organise regular opportunities for exchange and further training, and ensure the necessary insurance cover. This behind-the-scenes work is crucial in ensuring that voluntary engagement can lead to reliable and enriching encounters between the generations.
With your donation, you are helping to fund the coordination and support of the project and contributing to young and old learning from one another, coming together and fostering mutual understanding. Thank you
very much for your support!
