Right on the banks of the Rhine in Basel, Pro Senectute of both Basel cantons has created Nona, a vibrant meeting place for people of all ages. It is a place where people cook, eat, share stories, work and laugh together – and where connections are formed that might otherwise never have happened.
At the heart of it all is the communal kitchen. Older people contribute their experience and skills: they help with the cooking and baking, do the washing-up, prepare the popular Nona brunches together, serve guests or arrange the floral decorations. This fosters a natural sense of intergenerational togetherness. Nona fosters participation rather than loneliness, and genuine connection rather than mere coexistence. Older people take on tasks, forge new connections and feel part of a community. At the same time, young and old meet on equal terms and learn from one another.
To ensure that Nona can continue to develop as an intergenerational meeting place, we rely on your support.
With your donation, you’ll be helping to maintain and develop a place where community is brought to life.
Thank you very much for your support!
