Through the ‘EL-Anspruch’ project, Pro Senectute in both Basel cantons is working to make it easier for people to access supplementary benefits in Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft.
Many older people are entitled to this support but do not claim it. Those affected in the canton of Basel-Stadt are contacted directly; Pro Senectute of both Basel cantons then assesses their eligibility and, where necessary, helps them to complete the application forms.
Professionals can also benefit from free training courses and information sessions.

bsb – Bürgerspital Basel

The Bürgerspital Basel, or BSB for short, is a company owned by the City of Basel. It offers older people independent living with professional support and comprehensive care. As the region’s largest employer of people with disabilities, the BSB ensures their integration into the workplace.

Pro Senectute of both Basel cantons signed an agreement with the BSB in the summer of 2021 to deepen their collaboration. As part of this, services such as advisory sessions at the BSB – Assisted Living sites are available, as well as other on-site services such as the Digital Café.

Primary Schools in Basel-Stadt

The Primary Schools Division of the Basel-Stadt Department of Education ensures that every girl and boy is provided with the best possible conditions for learning. 

‘Intergenerational Encounters’ is a joint initiative run by the Primary Schools of Basel-Stadt and Pro Senectute in both Basel cantons.

Through its commitment to older people, the municipality of Riehen creates living environments in which all generations feel at home.

Our ‘Gentle Gymnastics’ course programme in Riehen is run with the support of the Riehen local authority.

The promotion, protection, preservation and restoration of physical and mental health are matters of public concern. The Department of Health of Basel-Stadt is committed to these objectives and provides the necessary resources to achieve them.
