Delivery to the hospital
All it takes is a phone call from the family to the Pro Senectute assistive technology shop in both Basel cantons. The very next day, Fabrizio Santoni delivers the rollator, along with the hire agreement, to Bruderholz Hospital and adjusts it precisely to the new customer’s body measurements.
After her first experiences with the new walker in everyday life, she pays a visit to the assistive technology shop at the Schildareal in Liestal. This is because Gisela Giger is still unsure whether she might not prefer a different model after all. Manager Jennifer Zinsli therefore shows the customer further models, explains the pros and cons of the products and lets her test them all thoroughly. In the end, it’s the first rollator – one of the most popular models in the range – that wins the day. According to Jennifer Zinsli, however, this sort of approach is the exception: “Most of our customers seek advice at the assistive technology shop first and then take a suitable rollator home with them. We often provide advice over the phone as well and then deliver the rollator to the hospital or to their home.”
Back out and about
in the village Gisela Giger now uses her ‘Mercedes’ to pop to the butcher’s or do her shopping at Migros; she also uses it to visit her GP or attend her qigong class in the village centre. The rollator gives her the confidence she needs for all these activities. And thanks to the upright posture it provides, her pain has also disappeared.
